But aren't you looking at Vista log files from a XP/2k3?

Vista is Windows 6 .. yes?

You can't look at a Vista event log on an XP. You can't look at a 2k3
from a Vista event viewer.

"This way Event Viewer of Windows 5.x looks after connecting to a Vista
machine:"

Like..... you can't.

Vista event viewer needs to look at a Vista/Longhorn box.

Service pack has nothing to do with this issue.. that's not a Vista
Event log window that you are using to look at Vista log files. I can't
take a vista box and look at my XP/2k3 fleet, nor can I take my XP/2k3
and look at vista.

When I'm up on the vista box looking at 2k3 it can't read all the
syntax. Am I missing something here? Or not understanding? Pardon if
I am.

I can't look at my Vista group policy settings on my 2k3 box, I have to
manage Vista group policies from a Vista workstation as well.
