By the way, if anyone's interested, I've posted my old logging

I used to teach a class on system logging for SANS, USENIX,
and a couple of private clients. The materials are mildly dated
(but not very) and include full notes pages. So it amounts to a
sort of an illustrated book on system logging, and includes
photography by yours truly of a local log-processing system.
