Hi all,
I'd like to know if you find the -h option of stock syslogd (or better
said its absence) an important feature of sysklogd. This option enables
syslogd to send remotely-received message to other remote machines. It's
absence causes syslogd NOT to forward such messages to remote hosts.
I have noted down a bit more detail about this at
http://rgerhards.blogspot.com/2007/07/on-syslogd-h-option.html
I am asking this question because I need to make a design decision for
rsyslog (http://www.rsyslog.com/), a free GPL'ed syslogd alternative.
Any feedback is deeply appreciated.
If you do not run sysklogd, I would still be interested on your views of
the usefulness of this feature.
Thanks,
Rainer
