Having done this stuff for a long time, (all the way back to fwtk! ;-);
I do speak "slam!"; let me translate for you:
>> That'd the the "hardware turbo-charged lipstick on a
>> pig" option.
That translates to:
"The application of more or faster hardware to a sub-standard
solution does not make that solution now magically 'good'."
With great respect to Marcus, I will say that I have had to go
forward with lipstick ridden porcine to "complete the meal". I have
provided decent ribs, baked beans (lotso bacon fat!) and a
commemorative belt for the occasion. When something better comes
along, I'll serve it -unless it's made of caviar and wrapped in gold
leaf - then it will be BBQ time again!
I have told a few people "I can't make a silk purse out of a sow's
ear - but I can make a damn nice wallet!" Which translates to "with
what you're giving me, I can't give you what you want - but I can
make you something that will serve the same purpose".
